As above, you read some inspiring incidents from some of the famous and successful people in the world. I showed you one of the falls when they were on their journey of success, if you read about them you will see many.

The reason behind making you read all this was to make you understand even successful people have a bad time, the difference is just that they don’t give up because they had that one type of Mindset that made them successful people.

We assume that our idols, heroes, and successful people a superheroes who were already born with such talent, we also say that they have been gifted by God and we’re not. But we never calculate how many times they didn’t give up, how many times they said yes to the challenges to get the life, what they are living it today.

Even they were an ordinary person like you; the difference is they made their life extraordinary by embracing all the challenges and obstacles as a discovery of themselves. They were able to do all this because they had a Growth mindset, a mind which is open to new learning.

According to the book called “Mindset” by Carol Dweck, any person can have two types of mindset one is Fixed mindset, the type of mind where you are not open to new learning, and the Growth Mindset, the type of mind where you are open to new learning. Carol Dweck is an American psychologist.

She is the Lewis and Virginia Eaton Professor of Psychology at Stanford University

Two types of Mind-set

Carol Dweck Quotes about Fixed Mind-set

“A fixed mindset comes from the belief that your qualities are carved in a stone. Who you are, is who you are period.”

“Characteristics such as intelligence, personality, and creativity are fixed traits rather, than something that can be developed.”

Fixed Mind-set

  • A fixed mindset thinks one can’t learn new things, no matter how much you try, your abilities are fixed.
  • Have a huge resistance to change and reject the new idea because you have no place for anything new.
  • A fixed mindset is the core reason why they put limitations on themselves.
  • Fixed mindset does not admit and correct its deficiencies; they are slaves of their massive ego.

Carol Dweck Quotes about Growth Mind-set

“A growth mindset comes from the belief that your basic qualities are things you can cultivate through efforts.”

“Yes, people differ greatly in aptitude, talents, interest, or temperaments, but everyone can change and grow through application experience.”

Growth mind-set

  • A growth mindset, in contrast, receives information, knowledge, and skill
  • One feels you can learn anything and beat anyone with enough energy, focus, time, and commitment.
  • They are open to suggestions, feedback, ideas, and learning.
  • A growth mindset equips you to take new information, ideas and prepared you for inspiring actions.

How to change from Fix Mindset to Growth Mindset

FIGURE OUT THE SOURCE

What was the initial source of the mindset you currently have? Because even in the book Carol Dweck says that you were not born with a fixed mindset.

 REACHES FROM SEVERAL SOURCES

It could be your parents or caregiver, a sibling, a teacher who might have influenced your life.

Example:

•         You behave this way, this is the correct way.

•         You behave this way to get our approval.

Or it is possible you gave it to yourself. From childhood, you were surrounded by parents, siblings, friends, and teachers they were living in a certain way specific things in front of you. And being with them for so many years you made their way of behaving and thinking as yours.

 TIME TO BECOME SELF-AWARE

Now that you know the source behind your fixed mindset toward any particular behavior or thinking pattern. Time to take action by becoming self-aware.

CHECK ON YOUR THOUGHT

Check yourself when you failed and something didn’t work according to your will. What thoughts do come to your mind? Are you saying in your mind that this proves I am not worthy or can’t achieve that or I am not capable of doing this or I am not born with such talent?

After getting aware of your thoughts which are coming out of a fixed mindset. Start training your mind; by saying it’s ok if I failed today that doesn’t mean I can’t get it over and it’s just a matter of Not Yet.

According to Carol Dweck by saying “NOT YET”, means if you are not good at anything presently that doesn’t mean you can’t achieve it ever.

There is always scope to learn and achieve in some period. Just keep your mind open to new learning and keep trying, keep trying until you reach there, as this a secret of that one type of Mindset that every successful person has.

Lastly “BE PATIENCE” as your current mindset is not something that develops overnight; it took years to become who you are right now. So give time to become who you want to.

Tony Robbins says and I quote, ” Every problem is a gift – without problems, we would not grow.”
